Facilities & Information

The Fleet Air Arm Museum is the National Museum of the Royal Navy and comprises four Museums which reflect the fact that the Royal Navy operates on the sea, under the sea, on the land and in the air.

The Air Museum is the world's second largest naval aviation Museum and represents the flying arm of the Royal Navy, housing four exhibition halls, over ninety aircraft and over two million records and thirty thousand artefacts.

To celebrate 100 years of aviation the Air Museum has a new Fly Navy 100 exhibition which dramatically shows one hundred years of naval aviation from its 1st air ship in 1909, to today's formidable air power from the sea.

Fleet Air Arm Museum has the first British built Concorde for you to climb aboard and visit the cockpit!

The Air Museum's award winning Aircraft Carrier Experience where you'll 'fly' by helicopter to the replica flight deck of the aircraft carrier, HMS ARK ROYAL. On board you'll see fighter aircraft and 2 enormous projection screens which will show you a Phantom Strike fighter and a Buccaneer Strike Bomber. When on board you can visit the 'Island' control rooms and bridge and even see a nuclear bomb!

Outside the Fleet Air Arm Museum is a children's adventure playground and ample free parking.

The Swordfish Restaurant has something for everyone to satisfy hunger and thirst!

In the Summer months, Picnic tables are available for you to enjoy if you have brought your own lunch or snack.

Additional Information

The Air Museum is at Royal Navy Air Station, Yeovilton, (which is also known as HMS Heron), in Somerset. There are more flights in and out of RNAS Yeovilton than any other military air station in Europe, therefore you will more than likely see aircraft undergoing their rigorous training procedures during your visit.
