Facilities & Information

Our Southwold beach hut ( at an extra charge) may be available to let when you hire our simply styled, nearby holiday cottage. The hut is on Southwold promenade , a 20 minute walk from our recommended, non smoking,  modern, comfortable , well equipped, gas centrally heated, double glazed, semi detached cottage which sleeps 4 people- 2 bedrooms ( 1 double and one with twin beds.)

 

There is free off road parking for one car, a small , private , sheltered, sunny garden. There is a downstairs shower room and toilet, a small conservatory and an upstairs bathroom.

The simply styled living room has a sofa, 2 arm chairs, a dining table  with 6 chairs, books to read , games to play and DVD to watch. There is a colour TV - BBC1 BBC2, Channel 4 and ITV ,a dvd player, video player , a cd player and radio. The kitchen has a full size cooker, a fridge with freezer compartment , a dishwasher and a washing machine. The garage  ( not used for a car) can be used to store bicycles.

Local Information

Southwold is a perfect base for a traditional sea side holiday, visit the award winning Millenium Pier with Tim Hunkin's highly individual amusement arcade . Walk then along Southwold promenade , lined with beachhuts, whose names are read out with pleasure by passers by.

 

A  mile or so along the sandy beach, you will come to Southwold Harbour and River Blyth. Turn right along the river bank, passing this time the black fishermen's huts. Treat yourselves to fresh fish for supper, fish and chips to eat on your way,  and / or a pint of Adnams at The Harbour Inn. ) Look up at the wall outside the pub to see the extent of the 1953 floods.

 

Picturesque Walberswick ( of world crabbing championship renown) is a ferry ride (in a rowing boat ) across the river Blyth. Teas and gift shops border the village Green with The Anchor and The Bell pubs nearby. Art exhibitions are sometimes held in one of the huts near the water's edge. If you are lucky enough to catch one, do not miss this opportunity. The view from the hut, is in itself an absolute joy.

 

The Suffolk Heritage Coast is on your doorstep offering birdwatching at Minsmere, music at Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings. Dunwich small museum, The Ship Inn  again for fabulous fish and chips  and a pint of Adnams beer, Dunwich Heath and Thorpeness are must see venues.
