About

Rigg House is set in 3000 acres of countryside just outside Kirkconnel in Dumfries and Galloway. A very warm and comfortable welcome awaits you. Approximately 30 miles from Dumfries and the same from Kilmarnock we are ideally placed to offer a base for touring SW Scotland and Ayrshire.

Facilities & Information

All rooms are en-suite with tea/coffee making facilities and a small TV in each.

Guests have use of a private lounge with real fire and Sky TV - there is a Playstation to keep the kids occupied in inclement weather.

We have a boot/drying room and a laundry service is offered on request.

We have a large family room which can accommodate up to 4 plus a cot.

Additional Information

The needs of our guests come first here at Rigg House. We cater for special diets, have a varied breakfast menu and offer comfort with excellent hospitality. Children are welcome and the under 2's go free. Under 10 half price. We have cot and highchair available. Pets can also be accommodated with advance notice.

Local Information

Walking, canoeing and gold panning are all available nearby and this area is a photographer's paradise.

Also on offer locally is a variety of country activities such as stalking, duck flights, fishing on the river Nith for which the B & B hold season tickets available for use and some rough days shooting.

There are several golf courses close to the Rigg, including Sanquhar and Thornhill, the latter being Andrew Coltart's home course, to which visitors are most welcome or if you just want a good rest with beautiful scenery in a lovely old house, this is the place to come.

Drumlanrig Castle is 15 minutes away and a visit to the Lead mining museum along with the highest pub in Scotland at Wanlockhead is a must.
