There are plenty of walks from the door and fishing at Boonbeck 1/4 mile away.

Just a short drive (2 miles) brings you to the beautiful village of Loweswater with the Award winning 400 yrs old Kirkstile Inn Pub/Restaurant, serving locally produced food and traditional Ales brewed on site. The beer garden has fantastic views to surrounding fells. Walking in this area is excellent (The North Western fells are said to have been Wainwrights favourite), with the peaceful lakes of Crummock, Loweswater and Buttermere and fells such as Haystacks, Robinson, Whiteside and Grasmoor to name a few.

Keswick is closeby( 7 miles),  with the Lakes of Bassentwaite and Derwent water. The Keswick launch boat will take you around the Lake and there are plently of walks around the shore.  The Theatre by the lake is also found here. Keswick itself is a thriving market town with Tea rooms, restaurants and a Saturday market. There is a leisure centre with large swimming pool with wave machine. Fells around the Keswick area include Blencathra and Skiddaw.

Corner House was built by the Jennings family, who began brewing beer in the village nearly 200yrs ago and are still brewing Ale such as 'Speckled Hen' today in Cockermouth (3 miles away). Visit Jennings Brewery and find out how it all began.  William Wordsworth was born in Cockermouth and his school house is a popular attraction as is the Lakeland Sheep and Wool Museum.
