Carmichael Country Cottages offers 16 self catering holiday cottages. Nestled amongst the ancient woodlands and parklands of the Carmichael Estate each cottage has it own unique character. 2 to 4 stars STB rated the cottages provides a unique getaway just 1 hour from Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Additional Information

Carmichael Estate is a stunning rural Estate covering 2500 acres. The Estate has been in the Carmichael family for over 800 years and is a working farm as well as a tourism enterprise. The holiday cottages on the Estate surround two ruined houses and used to serve as the servants, gardeners and Estate workers homes. Each has it own unique character and surrounding and there are good walks from the door of every cottage.

 

The main focal point of the Estate is the Visitor Centre and Farm Shop where guests collect keys and can purchase meats direct from the Carmichael farm, local preserves and jams and other farm shop food goodies. The shop is open from 10am - 5pm each day and our friendly staff will be more than happy to point you in the direction of local attractions and good Estate walks.


The cottages have all been renovated inside to provide a home away from home feel. They have full kitchens, laundry facilities and all linen, towels and kitchen crockery is provided.

 

 

Local Information

Carmichael is an ideal touring base for central Scotland - 1 hour from both Edinburgh, Glasgow, the borders and only a little further to Perth, Stirling and Loch Lomand.

 

Clydesdale is the region that runs along the Clyde Valley between Lanark and Biggar. There is a wealth of things to do within 1 hour of Carmichael including Pony Trekking, Paintball, Off Road buggy racing, hill climbing (Tinto Hill is on our doorstep), rock climbing, ballooning, dry skiing, trout fishing, tennis and much much more.

 

The region is also home to a World Heritage Site at New Lanark that attracts 1000's of visitors from all over the world each year.

 

There are good country house hotels nearby and excellent restaurants and pubs in Lanark, Biggar and Coulter.
