Local Information

Tucked away just behind the Main Street, the cottage is perfectly located to enjoy all the Lakes has to offer whilst still providing an oasis of peace and tranquillity. Staveley itself is a popular and unspoiled village - although it gets plenty of visitors it still has 'real' shops - a butcher specialising in local meats, a convenience store (licensed!), an artisan baker, post office, pharmacy to name but some of them. There's also a local brewery, riverside cafe (that also does take away meals if you're too tired from your day on the fells to cook) and a Real Ale pub with a beer garden by the river.

Staveley also has a thriving social scene with lots of activities-many of them (including amateur dramatics, carnival, fell races) of interest/open to visitors.

There are plenty of walks and cycle rides locally (and a handy bike shop in case you need spares or repairs) , as well as golf, fishing and a variety of water sports. For the less energetic there are plenty of other visitor attractions including parks, gardens, houses, boat rides  and museums.  Kendal with the fascinating Quaker Tapestry) and Windermere are both nearby and easily accessed by public transport if you don't want to take the car.

Staveley is quite a rarity in the Lake District in that it has its own station (about a 5 - 10 minute walk from the cottage) - so it's possible to visit without a car, too.
