AboutGates Lodge is a detached brick grade 2 listed former Victorian Cart-Lodge and Stable, converted to a very high modern standard in Summer 2011 whilst retaining all its original features including oak beams. Suitable for couples or small families looking for that special break away from it all.

The lodge is situated on the site of the Jolly Farmers which is a 16th C former Farmhouse and Inn, last used as a pub in 1968. The location is in an idyllic position looking out across hundereds of acres of farmland and is adjacent to a common home to free-roaming horses between May - October. As the site is a Nature conservation area and SSSI, it is most popular with wildlife lovers, cyclists, walkers and families / couples who want that extra special unspoilt break away from it all. That said you are 25 mins away from the Heritage coast, 5 mins away from any pub or village shop, and in an excellent base for touring. Golf and fishing are within 10-20 mins drive.
Additional InformationThe area and indeed the Jolly Farmers and lodge is steeped in history, there are many locals who still remember the Jolly Farmers as a working pub.
The area is home to many rare species of bird including the Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and Turtle Dove. The area is kept in a natural unspoilt state owing to its location and status as an SSSI and is part of the Waveny Countryside project.
For these reasons just a walk around the common is a therapeutic break in itself. The lodge is a fantastic base to go touring. Many places of interest include many Castles, the Heritage coast with Dunwich and Southwold, Jimmy's Farm, Gressenhall Museum of Norfolk Rural life and many more.
