Facilities & InformationThe River View room is a large en-suite DOUBLE bedroom with fabulous views over the river and counryside perfect to spot a newly born lamb or calf.
Bedroom 1 is a large en-suite DOUBLE bedroom with views towards the courtyard, lovely seating area to relax and sip your complimentary tea and coffee and watch tv.
Bedroom 2 is a SINGLE en-suite bedroom with views towards the courtyard and stables.
All rooms have complimentary toiletries, use of bathrobes, t.v, hospitality tray, tea/coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is served in our dining room, and in the summer months, if you wish, on the raised patio overlooking the Solway.
Guests can retire to the lounge after breakfast or in the evening to read a book or listen to some relaxing music.
Demesne Farmhouse is situated on the Solway coast and has fabulous views across the marsh, we are on a daily working farm so lots of salt marsh sheep and cattle on our doorstep. The area has a wealth of places to visit in Cumbria , we are not far from the Lake District and all the amenities it has to offer.On our Estate there are wonderful walks and many places to cycle, there are also areas for fishing and shooting nearby and a haven for birdwatchers. We have our own flock of Wendslydale sheep, hens, ducks and quails (so fresh free range eggs every morning ), there is also resident parrots and dogs whom are part of our family.
Additional InformationRockcliffe Marsh is thought to be the largest saltmarsh in Cumbria. It is noted for both breeding and wintering birds. In the summer lapwing and oystercatcher can be seen along with large numbers of lesser black backed and herring gulls. Other species that breed on the marsh are the ringed plover,
greater black backed gull, common and arctic tern, skylark, and meadow
pipit. In the winter barnacle geese and pink footed and greylag graze on
the marsh. Wigeon, teal, goldeneye, and goosander can also be spotted
here. Rockcliffe Marsh is reached from the village of Rockcliffe. Access is limited. Permits are issued by the Castletown Estate, Castletown, Rockcliffe, Carlisle. |
