About

"River Bridge" are two self-catering holiday cottages with fishing rights, in the heart of a village in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Together, they can be rented as accommodation for up to 9 people. The beautiful River Usk is at the end of the gardens and guests can enjoy direct access.

Facilities & Information

The first property, River Bridge House, provides comfortable accommodation for up to 5 people, within 3 bedrooms (1 single, 1 double and 1 twin). The single bedroom is on the ground floor (as is a large shower room) and is therefore perfect for guests with limited mobility. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and dining room, plus a large conservatory with beautiful views of the ancient Llangynidr Bridge and River Usk.

The second cottage, "River Bridge View" (just next door) is actually a bungalow and is therefore also perfect for guests with limited mobility. There are 2 bedrooms (1 twin and 1 double), a fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom and cosy lounge.

Both properties can be rented together to create a larger unit for up to 9 people and we offer a 10% discount to those guests who wish this. Both properties are pet-friendly and all heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included in the rental price.

The properties benefit from two thirds of a mile of single bank Trout and Salmon fishing, right at the end of the gardens! Rods can also be hired from the owners.

Local Information

The cottages can be found in the heart of the village of Llangynidr, which is well-known for its 5 canal locks and ancient, narrow bridge. The friendly village shop is just next door and there are also two pubs (serving excellent meals), one of which, "The Coach and Horses", is just a few minutes walk away.

There are some special places that can be reached on foot, right from your doorstep. You can stroll along the bank of the River Usk, do a spot of fishing, take a cycle-ride alongside the Brecon and Monmouth Canal, or just sit and feed the ducks.

The scenery around the village is spectacular. There are stunning views of Llangynidr Mountain and the other surrounding hills and countryside.

The Brecon Beacons National Park is renowned for its magnificant landscape - there are mountains and gently rolling hills; canal paths and river walks; caves and waterfalls; market towns and majestic castles.... There really is something for everyone to do, at any time of the year.

The towns of Brecon and Crickhowell are nearby and are well-worth a visit. Crickhowell has many interesting shops and boutiques, along with several excellent places to eat. At Brecon, you can visit the Cathedral, the leisure centre, the Brecknock Museum, the cinema, canal-side theatre, or even take a boat trip along the River Usk. Hay-on-Wye ("The Town of Books") hosts the famous Hay Festival of Literature and Arts for 10 days in May and June. Outside these dates, it is still the perfect place for a day trip to wander around the meandering streets.

Llangorse Lake is also just 15 minutes away and aside from being a great place to feed the ducks and swans, you can hire boats and take part in other water sports. There is also a shop and cafe, plus a large common area to excercise the dogs! From this area, you can take an interesting walk around the lake to Llangasty Chapel.
