Facilities & Information

Little Briar cottage has one double and 1 twin bedroom sleeping 2-4 people.  The kitchen area is compact and joins the dining  lounge area making an L shaped room with 2 windows looking over Loch Earn.  There is an electric Mira shower over the bath in the bathroom.  The cottage is double glazed and all electric operated by a £1 coin metre taking £1-3 per day.   2 adults can bring 1-2 dogs and 4 people 1 pet.  Pets love the three acre landscaped gardens especially the grassy area in the rear garden where they can run and play and do everything else that they need to.

Guests can not believe the views from Little Briar facing south over Loch Earn to Edinample castle, Ben Our and Glen Ample.  The self catering cottage is well equipped with Wifi, Sky freesat, a DVD player, electric massage chair, books, leaflets, games and a pet drinking bowl. Check the website for photos, guest reviews, directions, Kims Blog and more. If you like to fish, you can fish for trout  from the 250ft garden and jetty on Loch Earn, plus launch and moor a small boat, kayak or canoe.  Also, ask for a shot of the owners indoor hot tub on the grounds.  Lochearnhead is very central within Scotland. Ideal for touring. There are two pet friendly hotels within 200m of the garden gates and a water sports centre in Lochearnhead too.  The old disbanded railway walkway is an excellent place for off road walks from Lochearnhead leading to Strathyre, Balquhidder and Killin.

 

Fraser and Kim live on site in a 17th century b listed thatched cottage and will show you inside it to see the original cruck framed scots pone ceiling once lived in by generations of local clan crofters. Little Briar is open all year round priced from £250 to £750 per week. Pay 70% of the weekly price off peak from October to April for short breaks of 3-4 nights. Local Information

Lochearnhead is an excellent base of outdoor sports, wildlife, history enthusiasts and those who simply want to relax.  The water sports centre in the village is open from April to October offering boat and canoe hire as well as water ski and wakeboarding lessons or fun, zorbing.   There are 2 golf courses within 7 miles.  The picturesque 9 hole Killin Course and Sandy Lyle's favourite inland course St Fillans at the East end of 6 mile Loch Earn. 

Mountain and Munro lovers will enjoy Ben Vorlich, Ben Our and Stuch A Chroin on the south side of  Loch Earn and Ben Sheann, Ben Ledi and Ben Lawers are within easy reach. Sustrans National Cycle route 7 runs by the village with routes leading to Balquhidder, Strathyre,

 

Callander and Killin or further on to Aberfeldy for the seriously fit. Lochearnhead sees an abundance of wildlife throughout the year from hatching mallards to osprey pairs fishing on the loch, red squirrels, rutting stags and deer.  If you are into local geneology then this is McLaren, McGregor, Ferguson and McNab territory as well as Cambells who were the land owning Earls of Breadalbane. Rob Roy McGregors grave stone is at Balquhidder church 4 miles from Briar Cottages and there is an ancient McLaren burial ground at nearby Leckine. Winter sports are available at Glencoe just 40 minutes by car with plenty of other opportunities in teh area for stalking, horse riding, sailing and more.
