London Hotels
I had never been to London before this year which is, on reflection, an absolutely appalling state of affairs. The city was the centre of the world for hundreds of years, is the social, political and financial centre of the country and just has so much to offer that anyone who hasn't been someone who is sorely missing out. It may come as a surprise to anyone living south of the Watford Gap but for anyone who lives in the north London is seen as somewhat self-absorbed and overpriced.
I can quite categorically say this is not true. My experience of the city was a fantastic cacophony; too many things going on at once and so many people. More of a problem to shake however, is London's price-tag. It is comparatively much more expensive than the rest of the country but that doesn't mean it should put you off. There are cheap hotels to be found out there!
If you are planning a break to London (which you should be), I recommend that you give Lastminute.com a look for great deals. The website has it's own London Hotels tab showing just how popular a destination it is with people who aren't willing to pay the more traditional London prices.
Lastminute.com gives you a range of different variables you can chop and change on screen as you see fit; you can specify location, price range, quality or accessibility and then with a few simple clicks of the mouse you are led through into a webpage that simply lists all the deals that are there to be found.
For example, the Apex City of London Hotel is located a stones throw from the Tower of London within easy reach of the city's business district and Lastminute.com has rooms available there for only £99 a night. The hotel is in an absolutely excellent location for London City Airport, the O2 and Excel London, as well as the majority of London's major attractions and shopping areas.
Going even more upmarket why not check out the Millennium Mayfair. For over 400 years, Mayfair has been one of the most sought-after residential districts in London and there is no address in Mayfair more elegant than Grosvenor Square. Situated in the heart of the fashionable Mayfair neighbourhood, with its Georgian façade has all the discreet charm of an exclusive private residence, a magnificent 18th Century mansion first built as a stately town house, overlooking Grosvenor Square, is the ideal choice.
Within easy walking distance of London's main attractions including the shops of Oxford Street the boutiques of Bond Street and Theatre Land Lastminute.com is offering rooms in this most exclusive of hotels for only £100. Rooms can go as high as £612 per night.
So, to conclude. Go to the capital, go on lastminute.com and get yourself some cheap London hotels!
