About Us

The architecture of Montacute House is quite something to behold with carved parapets, elegant chimneys, contemporary plasterwork and heraldic glass. The Long Gallery, among the many spectacular state rooms, is the largest of it's kind in England. The rooms house some of the finest 17th and 18th Century furniture and there are lovely textiles and 17th Century samplers. The Gardens are of a formal nature with a cedar lawn, yew hedges, a fig walk and beautiful mixed borders.

There are two Public Houses in Montacute village, The Kings Arms and The Phelips Arms Both of which offer good quality food and Bed & Breakfast facilities. A short drive away, or for the fit and energetic a walk uphill, is The Prince of Wales, set at the top of Ham Hill with magnificent views over Somerset and beyond.
